Having a good old natter and more importantly really listening to our clients is without a doubt the most important part of our jobs.

Having worked with hundreds of families, from many different backgrounds, cultures and family set ups, we have learnt so much from simply listening. And through the years, this has helped us then go on and support other families better. So when we were offered the chance to do a podcast with the amazing team @factorystudiosuk we jumped at the opportunity! (Thank you @texture and @factorystudiosuk)

Notes From The Mother Box – hosted by us, your Midwife and Doula, will be a frank look at the highs and lows of the parenting journey through conception, pregnancy, birth and well beyond!

Babies don’t come with manuals, and neither are we born knowing it all. We learn so much from those who have walked the path before us and share their knowledge with us. And as we always say – everything always feels a little better after a good old natter.

Notes From The Mother Box is coming soon! September to be precise, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Go over to @notes_from_the_mother_box and give us a follow – and we’ll keep you updated and maybe even give you some sneak peaks of our upcoming guests!

Tips for Managing Pelvic Pain After Birth

Tips for Managing Pelvic Pain After Birth

Ladies, please don’t put up with pelvic pain!

Contrary to what we are told, it isn’t just something we need to put up with in pregnancy, there’s a lot we can do to help it!

1. When possible keep knees and ankles together. This lessens the pressure on the pubic ligaments and eases pain and inflammation. Think SHORT SKIRT NO KNICKERS – this will help you to keep knees together!

2. SIT DOWN! Not just to rest – but resting is good, we recommend that whenever you can. But sit down to put on knickers, trousers and skirts (any bottoms basically). Stepping into these clothes shears the pelvis and that really irritates the inflammation! Sit down, step into bottoms while sitting and then stand up to pull up.

3. Tail Bone – keep it pointing down. This encourages you to stand with weight equally on both feet. If you lessen the over arching in the lower back you can’t sink into one hip (which we tend to do if we are over arched in the lumbar back) standing centred and keeping the pelvis neutral will help support the pelvis.
